The Dominican Republic is a paradisiacal island of the Caribbean, with a population of 9 million. Internationally known as a first class tourist destination , it receives more than 4 million visitorsa year, most of which come from the United States, Canada, Europe and other different Latin American countries.

Amongst its main tourist areas, the beautiful beaches of Punta Cana and Bávaro deserve a special mención. The beauty of its white sand beaches , its emerald green waters , the numerous sport and leisure-linked activities, the quality of its shopping and its mild climate with temperatures above 20şC all year round are some of the things that have allowed Bávaro-Punta Cana to develop an active and growing tourist industry all year round, fomenting the country’s growth towards the creation of hotels, restaurants, business premises as well as homes with all the conveniences. Bávaro-Punta Cana, world-wide tourist destination, counts with great support from public institutions who have created a tax-exemption law for home-buyers in the area.

The Dominican economy has registered a growth of 6.2% so far this year (2008). This data surpasses the inicial expectations, and obeys the dynamism of internal demand, resulting from consumer goods and public and private investment.

The real GDP showed a growth of 15.2%. This is a very positive piece of data, which was achieved thanks to financial company services, construction, energy and tourism, of course.
